CSTF - Paediatric Basic Life Support (PBLS) Level 3 Online Training
1. Recognition and Initial Assessment of an Unresponsive Child or Infant:
- Identify signs of an unresponsive child or infant
- Perform an initial assessment to determine the child's condition
2. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Techniques for Children and Infants:
- Demonstrate effective CPR techniques for children and infants
- Understand the importance of chest compressions and rescue breaths in paediatric CPR
3. Management of Choking in Children and Infants:
- Recognize signs of choking in children and infants
- Perform appropriate interventions for clearing airways in paediatric choking situations
4. Use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Children and Infants:
- Understand the role and use of AEDs in paediatric resuscitation
- Demonstrate proper AED application for children and infants
5. Recognition and Management of Respiratory Emergencies:
- Identify and manage respiratory emergencies such as asthma or allergic reactions in children
- Understand appropriate interventions to support paediatric respiratory distress
6. Recognition and Management of Cardiac Emergencies:
- Identify signs of cardiac emergencies in children
- Implement appropriate interventions for paediatric cardiac issues
7. Recognition and Management of Seizures in Children and Infants:
- Identify and manage seizures in paediatric patients
- Understand post-seizure care for children and infants
8. Recognition and Management of Anaphylactic Shock in Children and Infants:
- Identify signs of anaphylactic shock in paediatric patients
- Administer appropriate interventions and medications for paediatric anaphylaxis
9. Administration of Basic Life-Saving Medications:
- Understand and demonstrate the administration of basic life-saving medications for children and infants
10. Communication and Teamwork Skills During a Paediatric Emergency: - Demonstrate effective communication within a paediatric resuscitation team - Understand and practice teamwork skills during paediatric emergencies
11. Recognise the Seriously Ill Child and Initiate Appropriate Interventions: - Identify signs of serious illness in children and initiate timely interventions - Understand the importance of early intervention to prevent cardio-respiratory arrest in paediatric patients
12. Understand and Apply the ABCDE Approach: - Demonstrate proficiency in applying the ABCDE approach (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure) in paediatric emergencies
13. Manage and Co-ordinate Roles and Responsibilities: - Know how to manage and coordinate various roles and responsibilities within a paediatric resuscitation scenario
14. Participate as a Member of the Resuscitation Team: - Actively participate as a member of the paediatric resuscitation team - Collaborate effectively with other team members during resuscitation efforts
15. Provide Initial Post-Resuscitation Care: - Understand and provide appropriate care following successful resuscitation of a paediatric patient
